This way I can earn the Russians respect be proud of myself
Being born Russian would have helped, 17 & you would have been conscripted.
I'm not sure foreigners can join the Russian forces.
Try the Foreign Legion in France, they're always taking on new recruits.
Be warned it's hard graft & you will have to learn French ( orders & all conversation is in French ) but in the end you'll gain automatic French citizenship & a new identity, should you want it.
