I have a Sig P229 40cal & I am looking for a 22 sub-compact for fun. Any ideas?
I prefer something that shoots similar to my Sig. The mosquito is an option, but I am interesting in seeing if there is one that is good with a shorter barrel than the 3.98in. on the mosquito.
Also, for me, I do like pistols that have more style, hence why I have an Equinox 
I want one that is at least available with 2 tone.
I just got done cleaning up a Sig Mosquito for a friend. I've shot it many many times as well. Accuracy leaves alot to be desired. There are a bajillion working parts to this gun. It also has alot of unnecessary lubrication in it straight from the factory so I recommend having it cleaned up a bit even brand new, BUT I do not recommend taking it apart. Seriously, even if you have gunsmithing experience don't do it. You've been warned. The slide lock mechanism is a mystery to me and instead of pins they use screws in alot of places. Failure to fire is a constant hassle but can be minimized by firing CCI minimags, don't use stingers they don't feed right for some reason.
I love Sigs, but I hate the mosquito, it is not like a Sig. The p229 is a masterpiece while the mosquito is an epic failure. Also the mosquito is enormous, placed next to my Glock 30 it is larger. You've been warned.
Now I have little experience with 22lr pistols, the Berettas are ok, but again cycling is an issue unless you use premium ammunition. But the 21a is pretty easy to take care of and easy on the wallet. I hear alot of good stuff about the Rugers and alot of people who know better than me have alot of faith in them. They just aren't subcompact.
I guess I'm reccommending the Beretta 21a even though it's not my favorite gun. It is way easy to take care of and has proven durable, accurate and easy to use. If you want to jazz it up a bit you could get some custom grips made for it or something.
Have you thought about buying a regular gun and buying a 22lr conversion for it?
