Trouble zeroing my 3-9x50 leapers scope (UTG 5 gen)?
I ordered a Leapers UTG 5 gen 3-9x50 AO Illuminated Scope. The order and all was fast and well with shipping too. I bought Medium Height Scope Rings and I mounted my scope onto my AGM L96 sniper (airsoft). I test fired shots at 25 feet and made some hop-up adjustments, then I attempted windage (left / right) and it wouldn't move the bullet impact or reticle when tested. I tried shooting at 60 feet and 100 feet with the same results... shoots up and to the right (farther right than up). I wanted to see if this was a problem for others before calling in to see whats wrong.. Also I made a makeshift rack to fire from to make sure it stays the same (method recommended by a pro for air guns, socks filled with sand). Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks!
50mm front lens huh? And mounted on medium height rings? Is there some air space between front scope body and what ever us under it ? Like barrel or rear Iron Sight? If scope is touching something, internal scope thingys that move bullet impact in elevation and windage may be binding. And that will not allow internal parts to move when you try to change scope adjustments to make scope reticule and bullet impact hook up.
Cure involves buying new scope and higher rings as you may have damaged scope internals. Or even bent the scope. Higher rings hopefully will let scope not touch other gun parts.
And if there is some air space between scope and whatever is under neath it, this may be operator error. As in not turning the dial enough to make bullet impact move.
Cure is simple. Turn the dials lots as in one half turn and then fine tune from there.
There is a third possibility and that involves the manufacture name. A handful years ago Leapers quality was so bad on a bad day I would recommend a scope made by Leapers to someone I disliked !
And lastly, take the scope off the rings and the mounts off the rifle and reinstall making sure all parts are installed correctly and try shooting again.
This will give you a chance to look at the scope body for damage you may have caused in the work you did. As in possibly tightening screws to tight and crushing the Scope Tube. Or having installed and tightened bases and or lower Scope Ring half's first and then attaching scope to mis aligned ring half's which would torque scope internals to not move as advertised or expected.
